Building Character
Through Competition

I’m Coach Daniel Hernandez, and I’m honored to be entering my third season as the head football coach at Ocean View High School. Our program operates under a clear and powerful philosophy:Team First, Always. We are dedicated to developing our student-athletes not just as football players, but as well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed in every aspect of life.

Before joining Ocean View, I served as the Offensive Coordinator at St. Paul High School, where I had the privilege of coaching and mentoring numerous players who continued their football careers at the collegiate level. That experience has shaped my belief in the importance of preparation, detail, and character in building a winning culture.

To me, football is more than just Xs and Os—it's a vehicle for teaching life lessons. Our players will learn the value of hard work, discipline, and, most importantly, teamwork. We'll foster a culture where athletes lift each other up, push one another to improve, and hold themselves and their teammates accountable. I’m committed to helping each player tap into their full potential—on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities.

I truly believe the best teams don’t succeed simply because of talent—they thrive because of trust, unity, and shared purpose. That’s exactly what we’re building here at Ocean View. Together, we will grow, compete, and accomplish something truly special—as a team.

Remember—you can't spell LOVE without 'OV'!

Hall of Fame Inductees for 2025

Albert Fanoga Class of 1992

Albert's legacy goes beyond numbers. As a standout at Ocean View, he was among the league’s top wide receivers—catching 21 passes for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns as a sophomore but what truly defined him was his selflessness. Whatever his team needed, Albert provided—from big catches to quiet leadership. He played with style, sure—but more importantly, with substance. He exemplified the Seahawk spirit—setting a standard for what it means to lead with character and team-first dedication. As a Senior Albert would be named to the All Sunset League team for the 3rd Time. Playing QB as a Senior because it's what the team needed, Albert never wavered and showed up everyday to practice and games to lead his team. Following his playing career at Ocean View Albert would go on to play Football at Valdosta State University.

Deshai Houston Class of 2000

Deshai isn’t just setting records—he’s embodying the values his dad, Coach Bill Houston, instilled in him. In just four games this season, he’s thrown for over 3,000 Yards including 26 Passing touchdowns, leading all of Orange County. His explosive performance—376 yards and 6 TDs in just three quarters against 29 Palms speaks volumes about his talent and poise. As a Senior Deshai lost his father he continued to play that season in his honor. It’s a powerful reminder that heart and purpose can lift us even in the face of grief. Deshai embodies the virtues and characteristics of what an Ocean View Seahawk is.

OVHS Football Ball Boys

2025 OVHS Football Ball Boys Dylan and Colin have been around football for as long as they can remember, starting their journey in Friday Night Lights back in kindergarten, where their love for the game first took root. To push themselves further and grow their skills, they joined the Hawks 7 on 7 team this year, where they had the incredible opportunity to learn under the OVHS coaching staff. Both are multi-sport athletes with a passion for competition, and they’re excited to continue their football journey at the high school level one day. This season is extra special for Dylan as he gets to be a ball boy at Varsity games alongside his older brother on the field.

More Than Just Football

Welcome to the Nest

We’re a no-fee football program fully supported through fundraising and community generosity. Every uniform, piece of equipment, and game expense is made possible by our incredible boosters, local businesses, and supporters. We’re powered by the time, energy, and heart of volunteers—coaches, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. It’s more than a team; it’s a family built by a whole community.
